The exports of blueberries from Peru to the United States registered an increase of 313% in the first four months of 2018, compared to the same period of last year.
This information was given by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), according to Andina News Agency.
As for the value of this merchandise, it reached a total of $32 million US dollars. In 2017 the amount was of $8 million US dollars.
“With this result, the United States continues to consolidate itself as the main destination of Peruvian blueberries (65% share), which is also the world’s largest importer of this product”, Andina said on Sunday.
The good performance of Peru’s exports, according to Mincetur, was supported by the considerable increase in volume, which went from 2,665 to 8,448 tons (217%), in addition to the slight increase in the FOB price (5%).
The main markets for Peruvian blueberries in the first quarter of 2018, after the United States and in order of participation, were the Netherlands (20%), the United Kingdom (7%) and Canada (5%).
