Central Named Number One in Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021

The ceremony for this year’s awards was held in Lima and celebrated the 100 best restaurants in the region, past and present.

Peru is back on top! Just a little over a month after Central was named the fourth best restaurant in the world by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, Peru can now boast it has the number 1 and number 2 restaurants in Latin America.

This year’s ranking differed from previous years due to the pandemic, and celebrated a retrospective list of the 100 greatest restaurants since the awards’ inception in 2013.

Unsurprisingly, coming in at number one is Virgilio Martínez and Pía León’s Central, and at number two, Mitsuharu Tsumura’s Maido. Also in the top 5 is time-honored Astrid y Gastón.
