President Martín Vizcarra informed that the first section of Line 2 of the Lima Metro will be ready by 2020, a year earlier than had been estimated.

“The announcement was made during a supervisory visit of the works”, El Comercio reported today. “He also said that the second section will be completed by the year 2022. And, according to the new schedule, the entire work would be completed in 2024”, they added.

In addition, to accelerate the work, the work fronts will be increased from 13 to 50 and the number of operators will increase to 5,000.

This Line 2 of the Metro will go from Ate to Callao and is extremely important, because it will benefit, as established, more or less a quarter of the population of Lima”, Vizcarra told the media.
These estimations are calculated according to statistics that reveal that 1 million passengers will use the metropolitan daily.

“It will connect a series of educational centers, hospitals, the Jorge Chávez airport, offices, etc.”, Vizcarra added.
