Five earthquakes were recorded in Peru in the last 24 hours

In less than 24 hours five earthquakes have been recorded in Peru. The last, of 3.8 magnitude, was recorded this afternoon in the province of Chiclayo, Lambayeque region, with a depth of 72 kilometers, reported the Geophysical Institute of Peru (PGI).

“Meanwhile, in the district of Maca, located in the province of Caylloma, in Arequipa, two other earthquakes were recorded”, wrote El Comercio. “The first, of 3.6-magnitude, occurred at 9:32 am, and reached a depth of 10 kilometers”, they continued.

The second earthquake was reported at 2:30 pm and had a 3.5 magnitude, 19 kilometers south of the Maca district at a depth of 9 kilometers.

So far, the local authorities of the National Institute of Civil Defense did not report personal or material damages. However, they always recommend to act calmly and to identify the safe areas inside and outside the home, in order to avoid personal injury.
