Two MI-171SH helicopters, with Bambi Bucket systems, of the Peruvian Air Force, arrived Wednesday afternoon at the airport of the municipality of San Ignacio de Velasco, in the department of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, to join the fire mitigation work that affects Chiquitania.

The 14 crew members of the two aircraft were received first by authorities of the Bolivian Armed Forces and later by President Evo Morales, who met with the Peruvian military to inform them of the operations and to plan the immediate mitigation tasks.

“The two MI-171SH have a carrying capacity of 3,500 liters of water, each, and they first arrived in the city of Trinidad (Beni) to refuel and join the aerial work in Chiquitania”, El Deber explained.

Morales reiterated his gratitude to the Government of Peruvian President Martín Vizcarra with a tweet on his official account.
