According to information from Telecompaper, a total of 654,744 Peruvian mobile users ported their phone number during the month of June.

This number was 7% less than the previous month, according to the latest information released by Osiptel, the telecom regulator.

“In terms of operators, Claro (America Movil) once again led the monthly portability rankings, adding a net total of 55,059 post-pay and prepay lines thanks above all to more competitive data plans”, Telecompaper said.

As for the rest of the phone operators, they all reported net losses. Movistar informed about 216 ported phone numbers, but Entel and Bitel lost 19,582 and 35,060 respectively.

Entel and Claro are the biggest beneficiaries of the porting process, gaining 1.61 million and 406,000 new clients, respectively.

Porting or transferring a phone number means taking an existing number from one provider and transferring it to another.
