Google Maps features and updates are available at different scales in each country in the world. This is due to the amount of information that can be found in each market and license agreements with data providers, some of which affect the app in Peru.
According to El Comercio, “Google Maps works consistently to ‘improve international coverage’. Thus, in Peru detailed maps of its streets, geographical coordinates to specific points, traffic monitoring, indications of car trips and walking mode are available”.
Nevertheless, the information is deficient, compared to countries like the United States and Canada. Data on speed limits and bicycle travel are not available, for instance, when estimating time travel in the navigation mode.
There are only a few countries in the world that have Google Maps available with all of its features. “The quality and quantity of information that is available about them make it possible to take advantage of their great news, such as the new Explore tab, for example. This group includes the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and several European countries such as France, Germany or Switzerland”, said El Comercio today.
