The competition lasted three weeks where four stages of voting took place. “Our imposing historic sanctuary exceeded destinations such as the Swiss Alps, Paris, Greece, Tuscany, and Galapagos, among others”, informed Peru.com.
The announcement of the winners was made through the Virtuoso Life blog: “The Inca citadel of the 15th century is a worthy champion, with its imposing green mountains, dazzling labyrinths, squares, terraces, and temples”, they wrote.
This award comes too with the help of the promotion Promperú carried out. They publicized the competition and encouraged travelers to vote for Machu Picchu. “Thanks to this achievement, Machu Picchu will have greater exposure and a special recognition in the next edition of Virtuoso Life magazine”, Peru.com considers.
