#Marcha8M: The Route Of International Women’s Day Demonstration in Lima

Various collectives and institutions have convened to a march that will start at 4:00 p.m., at “Campo de Marte”.

International Women’s Day is held this Friday and for this, social groups and institutions have scheduled a demonstration in Lima to call against gender violence and promote equality. The event will use the Hashtag #Marcha8M in Social Media.

The concentration will be in “Campo de Marte”, Jesus Maria, starting at 4:00 p.m, to continue along streets and avenues to San Martín Square.

Some groups announced concentrations in other points of the Capital city, including Kennedy Park (3:00 p.m.), Miraflores and Castilla Park (3:30 p.m.) to then join the others at “Campo de Marte”.

International Women’s Day is a date recognized by the United Nations since 1975 to commend the fight for equal opportunities and rights for women and men.

Other activities in Lima

The municipality of Lima also has organized activities for International Women’s Day in order to honor their role in the Peruvian society.

On Friday 8th, women (and general public) can assist to a panel to debate and inform themselves about the law against gender violence in San Andrés’ police station, at 4:00 p.m. At the same time, in Central Station of “El Metropolitano” will be the scenario of a reading of poetry written by women.

The main event will be at “Circuito Mágico del Agua”, starting at 3:00 p.m. In this event, people can enjoy musical shows, ballet and other performances. In the largest fountain, commemorative phrases will be projected.
