Ivár Sisniega, Secretary-General of the Pan American Games said that this edition organized in Lima has the highest level in the history of the event.
The Pan American Games have been taking place since 1951, said Andina News Agency, and the more than 100 Olympic medalists that are participating this year adds a high level of competitiveness to the championship.
In addition, many athletes are seeking to qualify for the next Olympic games through this event.
“If these games should be remembered for something (Lima 2019), in addition to the warmth of the Peruvian public and good organization, it is because of the very high competitive level. We have more than 100 Olympic medalists competing, as well as 21 qualifying sports for Tokyo 2020”, Sisniega said to the press.
The Secretary-General also highlighted the work done by the Organizing Committee of the games, Copal.
