The Peruvian national soccer team announced today the provisional list of 24 players that will face the challenge of the FIFA World Cup in Russia after 36 years of absence.
“Argentine coach Ricardo Gareca decided to trust the group with which the team fought in the qualifying phase and left out the call Claudio Pizarro, and Cristian Benavente”, said FIFA.
The list includes Carlos Cáceda; José Carvallo; Pedro Gallese; Luis Abram; Luis Advíncula; Pedro Aquino; Miguel Araujo; André Carrillo; Wilder Cartagena; Aldo Corzo; Christian Cueva; Jefferson Farfán; Edison Flores; Pablo Hurtado; Nilson Loyola; Sergio Peña; Andy Polo; Christian Ramos; Alberto Rodríguez; Raúl Rudíaz; Anderson Santamaría; Renato Tapia; Miguel Trauco; and Yoshimar Yotún.
Peru will begin the competition in the Group C with France, Australia, and Denmark and will play a friendly match against Scotland in Lima on May 29.
The team will also face on June 3 Saudi Arabia in Altach (Austria) and on June 9 Sweden in Gothenburg. From there the athletes will depart to Russia.
All of the team lists are provisional until FIFA makes the official announcement of the 23 players chosen by each of the 32 participating teams in Russia 2018 on June 4, their website informed today.
