The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) said yesterday that they are working on nine Regional Export Plans (PERX) to boost exportations in the interior of the country.
These are the PERX of the Amazonas, Ancash, Lima, Junín, Pasco, Cusco, Apurimac, Ucayali, and Loreto regions, published Andina News Agency today.
“The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Roger Valencia, said, during his presentation at the International Congress of Foreign Trade, organized by ComexPerú and Baker & McKenzie International, that 14 PERX have already been updated”, wrote Andina.
The 14 updated PERXs correspond to the regions of Huancavelica, Puno, San Martin, Arequipa, Piura, Tacna, Madre de Dios, Ica, Cajamarca, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Ayacucho, Moquegua and Huánuco.
In addition, the minister said that he has requested powers from the Congress to be able to legislate in maritime cabotage to improve the logistics related to this matter.
Also, Peru is evaluating trade tensions between the United States and China after the announcement of imposing tariffs on more products from the Asian country.
“He also reported that Peru sent a request to the United States to avoid the imposition of tariffs on steel and aluminum because the purchases of these products are less than the sales and said that they are still awaiting a response”, wrote Andina.
Finally, according to this media, Valencia reiterated the ministry’s estimate that Peruvian shipments to the world would be more than $50 billion US dollars this year.
