Peru will be present at one of the most important events of ocean conservation at an international level: The Global Wave Conference. This encounter will take place from March 4 to 7 in California, United States, informed Conservamos por Naturaleza in a press statement.

The wave protection experience of the HAZla por tu Ola campaign will also take place in this event, with Peru as the only country in the world that legally protects its surfers, according to the statement.

One of the topics to address will be the “challenging problems in the ocean world”, Conservamos por Naturaleza said, adding that Bruno Monteferri, its director, and Carolina Butrich, coordinator of HAZla por tu Ola, will be participating in the event.

“Peru is the only country in the world that legally protects its surfers, therefore, the national experience will be shared in this important event through the work of HAZla por tu Ola”, the organization informed.

Among other topics that will be analyzed are: The land-sea connection; protected areas; and climate change and innovation.

HAZla por tu Ola is a platform to promote the donation of funds and talent by citizens and companies committed to the conservation of waves in Peru,” said Carolina Butrich in the statement. She added that the campaign has already managed to protect 24 waves in Peru, the most recent being the Lobitos wave, in Piura.

Now, the campaign is focused on raising funds for the San Bartolo waves (Santa Rosa, El Huayco, Peñascal, Peña Rosa and San Bartolo docks).
