ProHass announced that this year Peru will export 335,000 tons of avocados.
“The National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA) said that this year the Peruvian Hass avocado would enter different Asian markets, such as Korea, Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand, as well as Latin American markets, such as Colombia, which would help consolidate the avocado as one of Peru’s main agricultural export products”, according to Fresh Plaza.
Hass avocados are being prepared to be in the best export condition possible to comply with national and international standards.
“Arturo Medina, the general manager of the Association of Hass Avocado Producers of Peru (ProHass), stressed that producers should take the dry matter index allowed by Senasa into consideration to initiate the Harvest campaign, which must be at least 21.5% of maturity, to ensure that the fruit arrives in good condition at its destination and that customers enjoys a tasty fruit with no ripening problems”, the aforementioned media wrote.
