Peru’s Largest Telescope Takes New Incredible Images Of Space


The largest and most modern telescope in Peru, installed in the town of Cambrune, Moquegua region, began to show its benefits and presented impressive images of space, taken during the installation and preparation stage.

“The Ritchey Chrétien (RC-1M) is a 4,175-meter-high telescope with a one-meter-diameter mirror that will be inaugurated tomorrow (November 24) by the President of the Republic, Martín Vizcarra”, said Andina News Agency on Friday.

In this regard, the head of the Space Agency of Peru (Conida), general FAP Carlos Caballero León, said that “it can be said, without fear of making a mistake, that all of Peru is following with great interest the installation of the telescope in Cambrune, Moquegua, in charge of the Space Agency of Peru-Conida”.

This new instrument will allow the development of high-level astronomy and will encourage research in different areas of science. In addition, it will promote astrotourism in Moquegua, which will generate economic benefits for the population, said the news agency.
