Peru signed the Inter-Institutional Cooperation Agreement with the objective of supervising the natural water sources and their associated goods in an effective and articulated manner.
This was done by the National Water Authority of Peru of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, and the Agency for Environmental Assessment and Control (OEFA) in aim of working together to promote an adequate use of the country’s resources.
These entities will also supervise in order to improve the quality and availability of water, and contribute to the integrated management of water resources, said BN Americas.
“The agreement empowers the National Water Authority to empower itself as an Environmental Audit Institution (EFA) on water matters, through technical-legal support and the exchange of information that will provide the necessary tools for enforcement actions within the framework of the Law 29338, Law on Water Resources”, the aforementioned media explained.
This agreement will also help promote mechanisms for rapprochement, dissemination and exchange of information.
“The signing of the agreement arises due to the environmental problems that affect the quality and availability of water resources” nationally, BN Americas explained.
