The Public Ministry ordered the search of the homes of the ex-mayor Susana Villarán and the former general manager of the Municipality of Lima, José Miguel Castro, for the Lava Jato case.
“The buildings, located in the district of Miraflores, were intervened by prosecutors around 9:30 am, as part of the investigations into the contributions of Odebrecht for the campaign of Susana Villarán.”, said La República today.
Jorge Barata, a former representative of Odebrecht in Peru, said recently that he gave $3 million dollars to finance the campaign for the “No to the recall” of Susana Villarán, in 2013. He also declared that he delivered, through Valdemir Garreta, $3 million US dollars for the recall campaign.
On the other hand, José Miguel Castro, ex-employee of Susana Villarán’s management, denied the versions of Jorge Barata and Valdemir Garreta, who assured that the campaign of the No, which sought to avoid the recall to Villarán, was financed with money from Odebrecht and OAS.
“It is not true that I met with Mr. Barata in the Municipality of Lima, nor anywhere, nor did I ever ask for any resources for any purpose. That is completely false,” he denied in IDL-Reporters, as cited by La República.
