In the district of Villa Rica, Pasco, a group of 28 farmers of the Association of Agricultural Producers and Marketers Forestry Alto Eneñas (APROCAFAE), produces 2,500 quintals of coffee per campaign, which represents an increase of 150% of its production, compared to the 1,000 they produced four years ago.
“We were very dispersed in our area, we did not have where to process our coffee, where to store it or how to determine its final destination. Thanks to the fact that we have obtained the benefit plant, we have increased our production,” said Anthony Álvarez, president of the agrarian organization, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation in a press release.
This ministry, through AGROIDEAS, co-financed a Business Plan for S / 380,800.00, which consisted of the acquisition of coffee seedlings, a coffee-maker type coffee dryer, as well as the construction of a collection center, a wet profit plant, among others.
APROCAFAE farmers have also won several recognitions for the quality of their products, such as the bronze medal in the III International Roasted Coffee Contest at the origin – AVPA Paris 2017.
“We have improved our quality of life, now we give our children a better education and we are better prepared for the production of coffee, thanks to the support of the Ministry of Agriculture,” said also Álvarez.
Currently, their products are exported indirectly to Switzerland and Germany and they plan to consolidate direct export in 2019. The Expo Café Perú 2018 will be a platform that will allow them to expand their markets and make deals.
