The results of the first quarter have exceeded expectations in the sales of television sets. According to the pollster GfK, there was a growth of 25% in value, compared to the year 2017 at the general market level, said Gestión.
“This result greatly exceeds the one seen in the last five years, which has been between 1% to 3%”, they inform, concluding that the increase has a direct relation to the upcoming soccer FIFA World Cup in Russia in which Peru will be participating.
The country’s capital city leads sales of television sets with 51%, said Gestión. They are followed by the north with 22%, and the south with 15%. The center and east parts of the country have had a growth of 6%.
Mariano Rabanal, commercial director of LG Peru, said that the normal growth in sales at this time of the year is of 1% or 3%. “This is a historical growth in the first quarter of the year”, he told Gestión. “The sale peaks occur during the months of July or December due to National Holidays or Christmas”, he added.
This brand, for instance, has estimated to grow approximately 35% in the first semester because of the FIFA World Cup. One of the products they believe will sell the most is the Premium OLED 4K, about 150 to 200 units per week, Rabanal said.
This year’s soccer FIFA World Cup will start on June 14. Peru’s first match will take place on the 16 against Denmark. The Blanquirroja has participated 5 times in this championship, the first in 1930 in Uruguay.
