A decree from the municipality of Lima mayor’s office ordered a progressive replacement of plastic and technopor by eco-friendly products.
“People have the right to live in a balanced environment”, mayor Jorge Muñóz said, according to information from El Peruano.
The decree also established that those containers that are not eco-friendly but are already being used, can be used until they exhaust. However, new acquisitions must align with the new standards.
The mayor also said that Lima will carry out information and awareness campaigns in order to create a higher degree of ecological awareness in the citizens.
