USA Congratulates Peru For Efforts In The Fight Against Corruption


Foreign Minister Néstor Popolizio met yesterday with the Secretary of State of the United States, Michael Pompeo, who congratulated the government of Peru for its efforts in the fight against corruption.

“During the meeting, both discussed the increase of cooperation in the fight against illicit drug trafficking, the recovery of democracy in some countries of the region and the urgent international support to address the migratory exodus of Venezuelans”, Andina News Agency informed.

The meeting took place in Brasilia, before the inauguration ceremony of Jair Bolsonaro as president of Brazil.

Popolizio attended the ceremony on behalf of President Martín Vizcarra, who announced his return to Peru after the removal of prosecutors Rafael Vela and José Domingo Pérez, from the Lava Jato Special Team, was known.

Popolizio also held a meeting with his Polish counterpart, Jacek Kozaczewski, in which they highlighted the close relationship that exists with that country, and discussed the invitation to President Andrzej Duda to visit the country.
