“32% of the online buyers begin their purchase online”, El Comercio explained. Even if there are people who do their investigations online about the product they want to buy, some of them like to evaluate it in person first, before finally acquiring it online.
In addition, smartphones are widely used for online shopping. “The study reveals that 72% of the population has one and surfs the Internet with it”, the aforementioned media explained, referring to the first study of online commerce in the country, conducted by the Interactive Advertising Bureau Peru (IAB Peru) and Kantar Millward Brown.
This investigation also says that currently, more than 5 million Peruvians do online shopping, but it is still a minor amount of people since 69% of them has never used a virtual platform.
Finally, “the interviewed people point out that the online route does not provide the total information that consumers want to know”, El Comercio said.
Nevertheless, e-commerce in Peru is gaining strength over the years, as more and more events are being held that seek to promote online shopping with exclusive offers.
