Calidda, Gas Natural del Peru, will invest some $200 million as part of its expansion plan for the 2009-2012 period, its general manager Ernesto Cordova reported today.
“The tariffs approved by Peru’s Energy and Mining Investment Supervisory Agency (Osinergmin) for the service of natural gas will allow the implementation of the company’s expansion plan,” he said.
He mentioned that Calidda's expansion plan has as objective that more families and companies can have access to a cleaner and cheaper energy in the Peruvian market.
Starting on March 1, the distribution tariff increased by 15% on average in Lima and Callao, after Osinergmin resolved the reconsideration resources presented by the distribution company Calidda, and the electric generator companies Edegel, Enersur and Kallpa.
“The approval of the tariff is an important step in the growth of the natural gas network, although there are other important challenges, like making the local authorities turn into facilitators and promoters of natural gas,” he said.
