In early February the Coca-Cola Company launched the fruit juice beverage Aquarius in Peru.
“Aquarius enters the market for fruit beverages, which has had great reception worldwide,” said Juan Carlos Pizarro, chief of new products for Coca Cola, as reported in
El Comercio.
Aquarius is sold in fruit and sport flavors, varying by country, in Japan and several countries in Europe and Latin America. In Peru, Aquarius will be in pear, apple and pineapple.
“Peruvians have a demanding palate because of the variety of fruits that exist, that is why the flavors that we launch here, do not necessary exist in other countries,” Pizarro said.
In Peru, Coca-Cola’s Burn has 35 percent of the energy drink market and Powerade has 25 percent of the sports drink market. The company’s carbonated beverages and brands for water and juice — San Luis and Frugos, respectively — are market leaders in Peru.
