Peruvians demand more premium cafes

Premium cafes are becoming each time more demanded by Peruvians.

"Premium cafes used to receive more tourists; nowadays, these places are becoming more and more frequented by locals, who want to try different and high quality products," said Alan Aurich, General Manager of Argentine Havanna Cafe.

The average amount spent in these cafes is 22 soles (7.50 dollars) per person.

Peru Food Service, Peruvian partner of the Argentine firm, has just inaugurated its third Havanna Café in Lima (in Larcomar Shopping Center), with an investment of US $200,000 dollars.

The other two Havanna Cafe restaurants are located in the Limean districts of San Isidro and Surco (Jockey Plaza Shopping Center).

That is good to hear.  I realy love having an option for cafes.  I personally dispise the Macbook toting pretentious snobs that squat for 3 hours and hog tables at Starbucks for hours on end all the while sipping on the same cafe late.  I have yet to patronize Starbucks in my 3 years living in Peru.  I love Cafe Haiti, Arabica just off Berlin behind Pizza St is fantastic (has a gringa part owner), Cafe San Antonio is also great if you go during off peak hours, it tends to get overcrowded in the evenings.  Chef's Cafe on Larco is also a good choice but tends to get pretty busy, the service is questionable but the coffee is good.  I look forward to having more options in the future.
