Peru becomes one of top ten historical sites in the world

According to Peru's Export and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru), the recent declaration of the Sacred City of Caral as “World Cultural Heritage” turns Peru into world’s top ten of most historical sites.

"Peru shares this category with India, Egypt, China, Greece, Italy, France, among others, and is the only Latin American country on the list. This nation is a cultural power in the world," said Tourism Promotion director of PromPeru, Mara Seminario Marón.

The designation recognizes the Sacred City of Caral as the oldest centre of civilization in the Americas (between 3000 and 1800 BC).

The last time a Peruvian heritage was recognized as a World Heritage site by Unesco was in 2000; it was the historical center of Arequipa.

It's true, there's lots of old ancient falling down stuff in Peru.  For anyone that likes old rocks put in place by people that died centuries ago Peru is the place to be.

Peru is a magic place with a lot of history,folklore and culture, of course is  one of the world’s top ten most historical sites, but just not for Caral,also Peru has many old civilizations like Chimu, Chavin, Paracas, Sechin.....with a extraordinary and unique arquitectue, customs and many more.

Well, I think that it's true, because we have a lot of resources in this Country... We have alive culture, entertainment, and a lot of places that are so beautiful, but the most important is our tradition and customs that everybody in Peru knows that is our heritage, and if we don't know appreciate this, we have to start to appreciate our culture, 'cause the tourism is a new activity that need to be developed in this country. The declaration of the Sacred Cityof Caral Cultural Patrimony of Humanity is a success for all Peruvians, as it will allow the enteri world know what kind of lifeand tha activities of it is inhabitans. With this name the Peru became of the most importanttourist countries in the world.
The growth of tourismwill help improve the quality of life for residents of the town of Supe.  Now the goverment has a responsability to provide  greater  support for the conservation of archeological  wonders.

I think it wasn't nessesary that PromPeru had to recognize Caral as the oldest city, because investigations done in 1994 by PEACS ,  based in  the method of carbone 14,had showed before that in the past time (5000 years b.C.) Caral was one  of the great cities with huge pyramides.

Well actually I don't have much information about it but I think that Peru has many oldest places but Caral is so special because of its oldest and it makes that Peru be in the "ranking" ¬_¬ so now peruvian must be very happy with it. Anything of good value found in those 'historical sites' has long been picked up by huaqueros and sold to anyone willing to pay anything for those things. Trying to make money from what's left, they declare the places 'World heritage' and make them some sort of museum. What's valuable in such museums, often gets stolen and replaced by a copy. Peru might become a number one country by the number of competing 'world heritage sites', but don't expect too much from those places. All decent heritage has been sold to private collectors long time ago.

AFTER THIS READING I THINK MANY PEOPLE WILL FEEL REALLY PROUD OF BEING PERUVIANS.
PERU IS A VERY PRIVILEGED COUNTRY, I MEAN, WE HAVE A DIVERSITY OF ANIMALS, PLANTS, TOPOGRAPHY AND WE ALSO HAVE A GREAT FOOD.

IN MY OPINION THIS RECOGNITION SHOULD BE SPREAD SO THAT CAN MAKE THE SACRED CITY OF CARAL AN ESSENTIAL PLACE TO VISIT IN THE AGENDA OF THE TOURIST WHO CAMES TO PERU.
AND I'M AGREE WITH MARILY, I THINK THAT THE GOVERMENT SHOULD GIVE A BETTER SUPPORT AND INCREASE THE BUDGET TO LOOK AFTER AND PROMOTE THE DIFFUSION OF THESE TYPES OF PLACES.

when people speak about Peru the principal idea that comes to mind is the long and the rich history, the evolution of the man in the diferents ages have taken place in Peru with the center of the inca goberment - Cuzco.
Peruvians must be very happy with this kind of recognition of our coutry that has everything to show to the world.

Well, this declaration is interesting is good 'cos the Peruvian culture has been recognized again ovre other cutures of Latin american countries in this case it's going to aid to promotionate our country.On the other hand, that is dangerous for us, 'cos the tourism going to grow but not the charge capacity and our services. this kind of news should be treated carefull. the charge capacity shoud grow join to tourism that is the main reason for not create contamination.

I think in Peru there is a lot of places that could be considered as a World Heritage, more places than other countries. but I see some people does not care this place, for example in Lima in human settlement, people destroy the historical remains of the place because they do not want to have problems with the INC (is a goverment institution that proctect the historical remains)

Peru is one of the most impressive and beautifull countries on earth. Peruvians are mostly  genuine friendly and open to foreigners and even so there is a lot criminality like in many other poor countries- more than in developed countries it will happen to a tourist that he gets spontaneous invited from people who are much poorer.Machu Pichu should not be missed in anyone life who can afford tourism. Same visits to temples of Sun and Moon and many other places. Middle class hotels are usually cheap and Peruvian gastronomy is from my point of few the very best in the world. Peruvian handicraft and artisan’s will in a positive way surprise any newcomer and when they come as singles it happens quit often that they find their couples for live here. Political situation is right now kind of volatile- and every foreigner should in the good interest for more improvement and investment try on different levels to reach out with his observations as visitor to make the country faster a modern developed democracy. I don’t recommend traveling to Peru alone without middle level of Spanish language knowledge.

Yes Peru has a lot of old rocks put there by people that are now dead. That's about it. So what? Something for a tourists to stand in front of and take pictures.

The 'culture' (lol) is poverty, people riding in combis, buses having head on collisions, eating ceviche off a filthy sidewalk, urinating in the streets, washing clothes in the river, and dumping garbage into the sea.

The 'culture' and 'legacy' of the Incas died with THEM, so get over it.

Perú for me is an unique place on the world where lived a lot of cultures, people from the world can learn a lot about Perú .

Perú has resources, customs and friendly people, but some people doesn´t appreciate Perú, I think this people doesn´t think if don´t  learn to appreciate this place.

This is not new because since a lot of years ago Peru had been one the most important place in the World so this is a excuse more so peruvians must feel proud about our culture and legacy. Is interesting that news, because UNESCO revalues to Peru, as well as Caral much wonderful places to visit and revalues.
For example the Amazon is a place wonderfull, these places need to preserve and care.
I think that Peru is a country rich in every way, its customs, its traditions, its people, it has much potential to offer both Peruvians and foreigners.
