The brand “Cafés del Perú” was presented today to distinguish Peruvian coffee for its diversity, specialty and origin and to be recognized by the national and international market as a coffee country, capable of producing the finest and select varieties in the world.

The Spanish news site El Diario informed that the brand was created by the governmental Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (Promperú) and it was unveiled today during the opening day of the Expo Amazónica, the largest fair in the Peruvian Amazon, which began in Pucallpa, capital of the region of Ucayali.

Rogers Valencia, Peruvian Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, explained that Peru is currently the seventh world coffee producer. With “Cafés del Perú”, the country wishes to achieve first place in coffee production.

We have to position coffee not only as a traditional product but also approaching new market trends,” Valencia said to the media.

Another one of the objectives to achieve with the coffee brand is to increase the consumption nationally and internationally. Peru wishes to be recognized just as much as Colombia and Brazil are for coffee production.

The director of Communications and Country Image in Promperú, Isabella Falco, added that “that’s why we will make a big effort to be recognized as a producer of unique specialties”.
