For the first time ever, Peru’s Citrus Producers Association (Pro Citrus) will send to Japan satsuma mandarins.
This exportation will take place in coordination with the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) and the mandarins will travel in self-refrigerated containers, Fresh Plaza informed yesterday.
“In order to define the latest operational details and export protocols, the Japanese inspector of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (MAFF), Shigehito Nakahara, is in Peru from April 1 to April 5 visiting some fields and packing plants of the valleys of Chincha, Cañete, Santa Rosa, and Huaral”, the website said, referring to a visit made a few days ago in Peru.
These mandarins will be arriving in May and they will be part of the first of several shipments Peru wishes to make to the Asian country.
“It’s worth noting that the last Peruvian product that gained access to the Japanese market was the Hass avocado in 2015, and that exporters have obtained good results with it”, Fresh Plaza said.
Satsuma mandarins are originally from Japan and they are very sweet.
