Digital Nomads now can have a stay of 365 days, extendable, allowing them to work and explore the country’s tourist offerings.
The new migratory status of “digital nomad,” recently incorporated into the Migration Law, will make it easier for foreign individuals to choose Peru as a place to work remotely for foreign companies while getting to know and enjoy the various tourist attractions of Peru, highlighted the National Superintendence of Migrations.
The creation of this migratory status aligns with global trends in telecommuting and is one of the main innovations contained in Legislative Decree 1582.
Who is it for?
This migratory status is specifically designed for foreign individuals who work remotely for companies domiciled outside of Peru and want to spend time working and getting to know our country.
This means they do not require a work visa since they do not have a local employer or engage in remunerated activities that generate income from a Peruvian source.
Benefits
This new migratory category offers digital nomads a stay of up to 365 days in Peru, with the possibility of extension, allowing them enough time to explore our country’s tourist, gastronomic, and cultural offerings.
Previously, these individuals applied for tourist visas. Still, at most, their stay could be a maximum period of 90 days, limiting their ability to continue traveling and enjoying Peru while working for foreign companies.

It is expected that the new migratory status of digital nomads will attract a more significant number of international professionals, thereby boosting the country’s economy through tourism, services, and other related sectors, it promotes cultural exchange and the possibility that these digital nomads consider choosing Peru as a place to establish a company or venture, for which they will need to change their migratory status.
