In the last Binational Cabinet, where the presidents of Colombia and Peru participated, held at the end of August in Pucallpa, it was agreed to open the Peruvian market from September 2 for avocado, lemon and pineapple produced in the neighboring country.
According to information from Fresh Plaza, the Government from Colombia communicated the details of this agreement.
“They signed a memorandum of understanding, which will be the roadmap to boost technical and financial cooperation initiatives in border areas and on issues as important as innovation, research, irrigation, productive chains with export potential, access and improvement of health status among others”, the agreement read, according to the aforementioned website.
Meanwhile, through the bilateral agreement, it was also agreed that Peru could initiate shipments of Hass avocado, pomegranate, blueberries, capsicum and grapefruit to the neighboring country, according to a statement from the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa).
