The new president of the Judicial Power of Peru, Víctor Prado Saldarriaga, apologized to the nation for the corruption cases that were heard through audio recordings, which had as protagonists judges and magistrates of the National Council of the Magistracy (CNM).

During a press conference, the official apologized to the country “for the difficult moments that have taken place in recent weeks,” according to information from Telesur. At the same time, he promised to attack the problems related to corruption, lack of resources, among others.

“Prado took office this Wednesday as the new president of the judiciary after Duberlí Rodríguez resigned before the criticism he received for lack of foresight and lack of energy”, wrote Telesur.

However, Prado will remain in office until December when there will be elections to decide who will be in charge of this position for the following two years.

The new head of the Judicial Branch indicated that among the initiatives proposed by the entity will be the election of the authorities of the system through the votes of all magistrates, with the supervision of the electoral bodies.

Finally, he requested that a delegate of the Supreme Court should be part of the commission of jurists created by President Martín Vizcarra for the reform.
