The governments of Peru and Ecuador agreed on March 10 to cooperate in the fight against organized crime in all its forms.
This was announced by the Vice Minister of Defense Policies of Peru, Hernán Flores, according to América Economía.
“The high official made these statements shortly after concluding a meeting with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense of Ecuador, Francisco Drouet Chiriboga, with whom he presided in Lima the Binational Meeting of Vice Ministers on Security and Defense issues Peru-Ecuador”, the aforementioned media said.
“Our task is to carry out binational joint planning effectively, efficiently and realistically, not only maintaining what has been already achieved, but also laying the groundwork for a more productive work,” he said, América Economía wrote.
Both nations agreed on intensifying actions to fight illegal mining, human trafficking, illegal logging and trafficking of species, among other crimes.
The deputy ministers also committed to cooperate on disaster risk issues, which will strengthen capacities for prevention and humanitarian assistance.
