The Peruvian marathon team in the men’s and women’s category won the South American Half Marathon Championship that took place over the weekend in Suriname.
José Luis Rojas won the gold medal with a time of 1h 8m 39s and Jianpierre Castro took the silver one by attaining 1h 9m 47s. Samuel Souza, an athlete from Brazil, came third with 1h 13m 13s, informed El Comercio.
As for the women, Talía Valdivia took the first place in the international championship by clocking 1h 20m 21s, the second place went to Nelida Sulca with 1h 20m 50s and, finally, the third place was taken by Nicolasa Condori with 1h21m31s.
The media also adds that the Peruvian marathon team defended the title achieved last year in Montevideo, Uruguay and, in the month of June, had an outstanding participation in the South American Games 2018, which were held in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
