The Peruvian national soccer team was given a warm farewell at the National Stadium after a resounding victory against their Scottish counterpart.
This game makes the Peruvian team unbeaten for the last thirteen matches, said RPP Noticias, adding that it was Jefferson Farfán and Christian Cueva the players in charge of scoring the goals that gave the victory to the team of Ricardo Gareca.
The national team will leave for Europe in order to play friendly matches against Saudi Arabia on June 3 and Sweden on June 9.
“Those directed by Ricardo Gareca showed, once again, that they can play without Paolo Guerrero”, wrote RPP Noticias. This media also says that the team will show a high performance once they represent their country.
Guerrero was banned from playing for 14 months after receiving doping-related sanctions that leave him out of the international tournament. Despite other athletes’ requests and even the Peruvian government plea, the punishment hasn’t been lifted for the striker to participate in the FIFA World Cup.
The provisional list of players who will be participating in this sports event is composed by: Carlos Cáceda; José Carvallo; Pedro Gallese; Luis Abram; Luis Advíncula; Pedro Aquino; Miguel Araujo; André Carrillo; Wilder Cartagena; Aldo Corzo; Christian Cueva; Jefferson Farfán; Edison Flores; Pablo Hurtado; Nilson Loyola; Sergio Peña; Andy Polo; Christian Ramos; Alberto Rodríguez; Raúl Rudíaz; Anderson Santamaría; Renato Tapia; Miguel Trauco; and Yoshimar Yotún.
