Peru Will Soon Announce The Continuity Of The Dakar Rally 2019

A decision on the race is expected to take place today.

A week ago the Ministry of Economy, Education, Culture, and Tourism informed that they were making an effort to decide as soon as possible about the realization of the Dakar Rally 2019, which was meant to take place entirely in Peru.

“Due to several emergency problems we are adjusted for budgets, although we also understand that this is an event of utmost importance to the country”, the ministry said, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The media also informed that César Villanueva, Peru’s Prime Minister, understands that the Dakar Rally attracts many “eyes” to Peru, which affects the economy positively, and turns the situation into an opportunity to promote the country worldwide.

It is expected that the ministry will make a decision on this matter today, Thursday, June 28. They will also announce if the original dates from January 6 to 17 will be maintained.

“The deputy director of the French private TV channel TF1, Kerckaert Jean-François, was the first to unveil the news through social networks, and it is expected that the official confirmation will arrive in the next few hours through the Official Peruvian Government Gazette”, Mundo Deportivo wrote.

Also, it is possible that the race is changed to ten stages, instead of 15.
