It is not too late to register and start training for this epic race, the only of its kind in Peru, which traverses the Andes near the Sacred Valley. Dubbed as an ‘Ultra-marathon,’ participants can choose to compete in a variety of categories ranging in distance from 13k to 100k.
The Chaski Challenge is the first Ultra-marathon to be held in Peru. Since the first year, it was held in 2015, the race has continually grown in popularity and now attracts hundreds of participants from all over the planet. Race’s name Chaski Challenge serves as a homage to legendary foot messengers of the Inca empire who were able to pass essential communication between far-flung corners of the continent within a matter of days.
A range of distances to run
One of the great aspects of this race is that there a variety of distances. If you’re new to running you might be interested in running the 13k. But if you want to push yourself to new limits, you can also run the 30k or the 60k. And if you are up for the ultimate challenge, why not register for the 100k, which usually takes around 24 hours to complete.
