The president of the International Federation of Associated Football (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, considered as “very well-deserved” the nomination of the Peruvian fans for the 2018 Fan Award, which is handed out by the governing body of football worldwide.
Infantino told RPP Noticias that Peruvian soccer fans have been exemplary and that they have left many emotions, which were visible yesterday at the friendly match against Holland in Amsterdam.
The leader of FIFA also recognized his personal affection for Peru, saying that “Peru won my heart and the team’s shirt is one of the most beautiful and historical in the world,” according to information from the aforementioned media.
Finally, he sent a hug to Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero, absent from the match for being suspended from playing because of doping charges.
