Through their Twitter account, the Ecuadorian brand Marathon presented the new official shirt of the Peruvian national soccer team as a “tribute to the passion that went beyond its limits”.
This shirt was launched yesterday and will be used today against the Netherlands and on Sunday against Germany in friendly matches. It will be the first time the team will appear after their participation in the FIFA World Cup in Russia, earlier this year.
“Adidas also showed interest in dressing the Peruvian team and offered the Peruvian Soccer Federation (FPF) $500,000 US dollars and 8 million soles in products. However, Marathon improved that offer by the triple: $1.5 million US dollars and 8 million in products”, said La República.
The last brand that dressed the “Blanquirroja” was Umbro, which signed a contract with the FPF in 2010 and was in two eliminatory processes (towards Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018). Now, according to Edwin Oviedo, president of the federation, the agreement with Marathon is a historic one because of the benefit that the Peruvian team will obtain.
