SUNASS Starts A New Campaign To Save Water In Chiclayo

Called “Yo cuido el agua” (I save water), the program will have activities in municipalities of La Victoria, José Leonardo Ortiz and Lambayeque.

SANASS is working in create activities with the purpose of promote awareness and responsible use of potable water. These events are being carried out primarily in the district of La Victoria, where institutions of the sanitation sector participate in the organization of events.

Lima loses 120 million liters of potable water just in summer, which could be used for the consumption of 4,800 families in a month, according to information from Sedapal.

Authorities are urging the population to change inappropriate habits in the consumption of water, for the benefit of those families lacking in the service and with a focus on sustainability for the future generations.

The program #YoCuidoElAgua has scheduled more activities in José Leonardo Ortiz and Lambayeque, such as information campaigns, lectures, video exposition and distribution of educational material. The goal is spread the voice and raise awareness among citizens about the importance of this natural resource.

“The indiscriminate use of portable pools by the population causes great waste of water. It’s necessary to adopt adequate saving practices inside the homes, as well as to keep the internal facilities in good condition with the purpose of avoiding leaks”, said Luis Bernal Marchena, coordinator of SUNASS in Lambayeque.

Finally, SANASS spokesman invites the citizens to participate actively in the campaign, sharing the information and putting into practice the recommendations that will be posted in their media.
