Burns are a public health problem according to the World Health Organization.
For the first time, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) will implement a public policy aimed at the prevention and treatment of burned patients, according to a Ministerial Resolution.
Andina News Agency informed that in order to achieve the goal, MINSA has formed a sectorial commission that will be responsible for drafting and proposing the health policy within a period of 60 calendar days.
“The specialists in this working group come from different hospitals such as Archbishop Loayza, Daniel Alcides Carrión, National Institute of Child Health (Breña) and the National Institute of Child Health (San Borja).”, they wrote.
The group will receive the technical support of the Directorate General of Strategic Interventions in Public Health (Digiesp) and, if necessary, external entities such as academic institutions, NGOs, and others.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has indicated that “burns are a public health problem worldwide and cause about 180,000 deaths a year, of which the majority occurs in low and middle-income countries, and almost two thirds, in the regions of Africa and Southeast Asia.”, you can read in Andina.
