On February 5 Peru celebrated Secure Internet Day and Microsoft used this day to present the results of the annual global study on online risks.
Microsoft highlighted that the most common online risks in Peru are “unwanted contact and receiving unrequested images with sexual content”, according to Gestión.
The study also revealed that in Peru, almost 50% of the interviewed people said that when they received unwanted contact it was to obtain personal information. “In addition, 43% received repeated attempts to socialize when they would have already expressed their refusal to this”, Gestión said.
As for fraud, 63% said that they were exposed to fraudulent content on the Internet and 62% said they encountered false news.
“In terms of risky behavior, 47% indicated that they had received offensive comments and 37% said that people were trying to ridicule them”, informed Gestión, adding that in Peru both of these behaviors are below the global average.
Finally, regarding risks of a sexual nature, more than 60% of people reported receiving messages or unwanted images with sexual content. Similarly, 41% said they received persistent proposals for romantic or unwanted sexual relationships.
