President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski blames left-handed parties for his low ratings.
President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski’s (PPK) approval has “sunk to a new low”, said Telesur TV yesterday, “even worse than (…) the previous 22 percent approval in January”, they continued.
This information comes from a poll, conducted by La República and GfK Global, that revealed that 83% of Peruvians don’t approve of their President’s policies and political conduct. PPK blames left parties for his low ratings and the public’s desire for him to leave office.
“Fifty-two percent of those who disapprove of Kuczynski want him congressionally removed, while fifty-five percent want him to resign.”, said Telesur TV.
The past several months have been negative for the Peruvian president. He has been losing legitimacy, even prior to Kuczynski’s “highly controversial and questionably legal pardon of former president Alberto Fujimori”, said this news website.
The corruption allegations are also other factors that influence his dropping numbers. Nevertheless, Telesur TV says that it is his “bad management” style that has made people dislike him as President.
As for the executive power, the poll revealed that 74% of Peruvians disapprove of it, and 19% of the population disapproves of the newly reshuffled ministers.
Some politicians, such as Veronika Mendoza from the New Peru Movement (MNP), believe that Kuczynski’s removal from office is indispensable but will not solve the country’s problems. Others, like the analyst Claudia Cisneros says that PPK’s administration is creating a dangerous scenario for the nation.
