Peru continues as
the first producer of silver in the world, and now it has found out that its reserves of this metal surpass 2,040 million fine ounces, reported the Energy and Mines Ministry.
These reserves will be announced during a presentation to be held tomorrow by Peru’s Minister of Energy and Mines, Pedro Sanchez, at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada, an annual convention being held in Toronto, Canada.
Currently, Peru remains as the second copper producer in the world and in Latin America. Current reserves have been estimated in 75,021,000 metric tons, but those figures are increasing.
Last year's copper production reached 1,000,275 metric tons.
Peru is the first Latin American producer of gold, and the 6th worldwide.
