(LIP-wb) -- At least 50 people died in an accident on the Carabaya-Puno highway near the border to Bolivia in Southern Peru, when a bus of the "Madre de Dios" company fell into an abyss of approximately 500 meters.
Peru's national government recently launched a "Zero Tolerance" initiative which is supposed to ensure that necessary safety measures are observed by inter-provincial bus companies. Until Monday, 708 omnibuses in Lima did not meet technical requirements or overworked bus drivers were not in good physical condition to circulate Peru's highways.- related articles -

In the past the most business owners here in Peru have run their companies and reaped their profits with little regard to the safety and well being of their customers. The poor need transportation here but they also need some consideration concerning their safety. These bus companies are owned by people that have no regard for their customers or employees.Add your comment
I say to them " EITHER GET YOUR COMPANY IN ORDER OR GET OUT OF BUSINESS" JAIL is a good place for those who do not want to obey the law!
