Peruvian actress Elvira Travesí died yesterday in Spain, due to a general failure after suffering 3 strokes in recent months.
Originally Spanish-born, the actress settled down in Peru since her early childhood, and grew up to have an outstanding career in theater, television and films.
Formerly known as "the First Lady in Peru's Theater Scene," Travesí will be remembered because of her interpretations in films like "De carne somos" (1938), "Los conflictos de cordero", "Barco sin rumbo" (1940) and “Maruja en el infierno” (1983), among many others.
In her long career, she also starred the famous soap opera “Nino”, among other well-known national productions.
In 2003, she was publicly recognized as outstanding artist and important leading actress of Peruvian culture.
