Entry Of Plastic Containers Is Limited In Protected Natural Areas In Peru

From December 18 the single-use plastic containers, such as bags and technopor will be restricted for entry in natural protected areas.

This measure will be applied in the 76 natural protected areas nationwide, said the entity through a statement released on their social networks”, Andina News Agency reported on December 17, citing information from the National Service of Natural Protected Areas by State (Sernanp).
This measure was made in accordance with the Supreme Decree 013-2018-MINAM that approved the reduction of single-use plastics and the promotion of responsible consumption.

“In this way, we seek to guarantee the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems that turn our protected natural areas into unique spaces of great natural wealth, a goal in which we want to have the support of all Peruvians,” the Sernanp said in a statement.

Finally, Sernanp recommended to the visitors to use environmentally friendly alternatives such as canteens to avoid the use of plastic bottles.
