The Research Institute of the Professional School of Tourism of the USMP published the book “A History of Tourism in Peru” by the doctor of Philosophy and Letters, Fernando Armas Asín. This is a work that emphasizes the origins of this activity in the country, the institutional actors that have contributed to its development over the years and the tourist as the central axis.

The author starts the investigation by defining tourism as something that takes place when people are interested in visiting and knowing a certain place, not for reasons of work, religious interest or military obligation”, El Comercio said.

According to this newspaper, the book states that it was in the 18th and 19th centuries that people began to be interested in tourism in Peru when the country’s economy began to take off.

The book will be presented on Thursday, April 11 at 7:00 pm in the auditorium of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Tourism and Psychology of the USMP.
