Princess Mako, the eldest daughter of Crown Prince Akishino, is on an official visit to Peru and Bolivia because of the 120th anniversary of Japanese emigration to South America.

The Japanese princess will attend several commemorative ceremonies, according to Japan Times during her stay in Peru since last Tuesday. It is her first official trip since her uncle Emperor Naruhito ascended to the throne in May.

“The princess is scheduled to travel via Houston and will arrive in Lima late Tuesday. She will meet Japanese Peruvians, make a courtesy call to Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra and visit Machu Picchu, a World Heritage site, before heading to the Bolivian city of La Paz on Monday”, said the aforementioned media last week.

After a tour in Bolivia she will return to Japan on July 22.

For years, members of the imperial family have been traveling to Peru and Bolivia and meeting South Americans of Japanese descent”, Japanese Times informed.
