María Belén Bazo Seeks Windsurf Gold In The 2019 Pan American Games In Lima

María Belén Bazo will represent Peru in the Pan American Games Lima 2019 in windsurf and is aiming to win the gold medal.

This 19-year-old athlete recently finished an intense season in which she participated in the Princesa Sofía Trophy Championship in Palma de Mallorca in Spain and placed tenth by country and ranked 17th in the general classification.

“The 19-year-old athlete also competed in the final of the Windsurfing World Cup in Marseille (France) and ranked 14 worldwide. The result earned her to stay in the top 20”, explained El Peruano.

What most regrets María Belén is that she could not reach the longed-for qualification to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. She almost made it to the qualifications in the fifth edition of the 2018 Sailing World Championship in Denmark.

“It was an intense year of ups and downs. I think I had more rewarding situations and I learned a lot competing alongside world and Olympic champions. That strengthens me because I have the calm way to work intensely, train well and arrive in optimal conditions for Lima 2019,” Bazo said.

On January 27 the athlete will participate in the World Cup to take place in Miami, United States and she is also planning on going to Italy to face the third round of the World Sailing World Cup in April of next year.
