Peru obtained a total of four awards last Saturday in one of the most prestigious events in the travel and tourism industry: The World Travel Awards.
According to Perú 21, this demonstrates that once again Peru offers high quality in the travel sector, which is the reason why the country was given the awards for Best Culinary Destination in South America; Best Cultural Destination of South America; and Best Tourist Attraction in South America: Machu Picchu.
“The ceremony was held in the historic Crystal Palace of the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador, and was attended by leading industry experts, as well as international media”, the website explained.
In addition, the Promotion Commission of Peru for Export and Tourism – Promperú, won the award for the Best Tourism Office in South America for the third consecutive year.
“These triumphs are a joy for us, because they show the articulated work between the public and private sector, as well as putting our country’s value before the eyes of the world, consolidating us as a destination full of history, culture, nature and a delicious gastronomy. Recognized globally, “said Marisol Acosta, Tourism Director of Promperú.
The winners of the South American edition will compete in the world edition, which will be held on December 1 in Portugal and in which Peru is nominated in three additional categories: Best Tourism Website: Peru.travel; Best Green Destination; and Best Destination for Short Break (“City Break Destination”): Lima.
